The discovery of infrared as a total body therapy system

From accident victim to world leader in infrared therapy
Luis Schwarzenberger
Founder of Physiotherm Infrared Saunas
Luis Schwarzenberger suffered the nightmare of every enthusiastic alpine skier. He plunged four meters down a deep ravine, surviving a double vertebrae fracture. Schwarzenberger was just millimeters away from becoming a full paraplegic.
It seemed that an operation was unavoidable, however it was a risky procedure with the opportunity for mistakes that could lead to paralysis. This nature-loving sportsman decided that wasn’t worth the risk and began seeking a more natural, less invasive way to recover his health.
At about this time, Schwarzenberger had a friend who practiced alternative medicine. He suggested treatment using infrared heat to help heal the injury. Schwarzenberger did his own research on the effects of infrared on the body and decided that this was his next best option.
Starting with heat treatment from an infrared lamp for 18 hours per day, Schwarzenberger found the results were astounding. Not only did he begin to feel better after only a few days but, as time passed, the pain he suffered also began to recede, the tension in his back subsided and the bruising disappeared completely. His mobility returned and, in a little over three weeks after the accident, he was on his feet again. This was an incredible result for a keen alpine skier facing the prospect of never being able to enjoy his sport again, let alone a comfortable and healthy life!
Following his recovery, Schwarzenberger decided to see if he could find a way to make this treatment system easily available for everyone else. After an extensive process of research and development and work with a Tyrolean infrared scientist, Schwarzenberger created a sauna incorporating the infrared therapy system.
Physiotherm is now the leading Infrared sauna manufactuer in Europe. You could say that Luis Schwarzenberger is realizing his dream of making infrared heat therapy available to everyone.
