On the health front in the media we have seen a number of articles about the supposed fallacy of detox whilst at the very same time further coverage of medical studies linking toxins in the body with lowered rates of fertility in women and obesity in children! For example the following was cited in the Telegraph recently -
“The study, published in the journal ActaPaediatrica, measured levels of hexachlorobenzane (HCB) in the umbilical cords of 403 children. HCB is a pesticide banned internationally but which continues to remain in the environment and can be found in food. Those with the highest levels of HCB were twice as likely to be obese when they reached the age of six and a half.”
It seems commonsense to us that man made toxic chemicals must have a negative effect on the body even in small doses and that studies like this are showing us what some of the results may be. For this reason we believe that any steps taken to help the body eliminate these toxins must be a good thing and we know of nothing more beneficial than a deep infrared induced sweat, which has been shown to help remove toxins through analysis of the tissues before and after treatments as shown by James Fergusson in his book “The Vitamin Murders” in which he discusses reducing his pesticide contamination by three times after only 12 Physiotherm sessions - to order the book click here.
Earlier this month we were lucky enough to be invited to Vienna to visit the world leading authority on Hyperthermic Infrared treatments Dr Ralf Kleef who is at the forefront of advancing our understanding of the beneficial effects of infrared therapy on the body after dedicating over 15 years to advancing medical knowledge in this field. Having studied the Physiotherm infrared system he is adamant that regular sessions can be a helpful preventative measure in maintaining good health. Dr Kleef has successfully helped patients that standard medicine has given up on. If you need specialist help in this area we recommend that you make contact with him through his website www.hyperthermie.at
Don’t forget to check out our Hot Deals for February if you are looking to invest in your own Infrared system this month.
P.S. On a personal note, MagMed's New Zealand manager is selling his beautiful property. Feel free to have a look and see if this New Zealand/Western Bay of Plenty oasis interests you as a winter retreat!
In a Physiotherm cabin you can adjust the infrared intensity and its frequency. This allows you to play around with the system until you find the level which is best for you individually. No other infrared sauna offers you this level of control over your infrared therapy session.
How important is Far Infrared frequency for an effective Far Infrared sauna?
Due to their commitment to excellence Physiotherm researched the different types of infrared systems widely available (including fibreglass carbon panel heaters and basic ceramic and alloy heaters) to ascertain the relative merits between them and to understand if different wavelengths of infrared proved more beneficial than others.
What they found was that the most important beneficial effects of Far Infrared heat are NOT determined by the frequency of Infrared wavelength but the level of Infrared intensity on the surface of the skin which is measured in milliWatts per square centimetre (mW/CM2). In this regard the findings on carbon panel heaters were fundamentally disappointing. Having a peak micron output of 8microns resulted in warming of the skin of only 15-25mW/cm². This is far below the optimal range of 40-90mW/cm² necessary to impart deep warmth to the body to raise the core temperature and deliver the circulation and sweat responses from which the many health benefits are achieved. and deliver the circulation and sweat responses from which the many health benefits are achieved.
This graph shows that when a heater surface temperature is low the intensity is then too low to be really functional. The opposite can be true of heater systems which operate at much higher temperatures (and shorter wavelengths of around 4 microns and less) in this case the infrared intensity is too high and can be uncomfortable, as was found in lower quality ceramic and alloy infrared elements.
As with many things in life the secret is in finding the right balance; in this case between intensity and frequency to deliver optimal individual comfort and effectiveness, the Physiotherm system still delivers the gold standard in this regard.
