Sauna Tip – Physiotherm Aids Speeding Recovery from Sports Injuries
|
Tim Benjamin was Britain's top 400m runner in 2004. He won a succession of titles and made the semi-finals at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. However Tim has been plagued with injuries since he was a young kid, and injury prevented him from running at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
Tim said injuries are quite common for athletes who run the 400m.
“We need the speed of a 100m sprinter and the endurance of a mile runner. Training is varied and quite strenuous, so your body is at an increased risk of injury.”
With a new trainer on board to assist with injury prevention he began incorporating. “I tore my calf muscles last winter, and I used the cabin four or five times a day it really helped speed up my recovery. Usually I'd have to keep the muscles warm by taking hot baths, but using the Physiotherm Cabin is much more practical. Also, the quality of the deep penetrative heat from the infrared heaters helped increase the blood flow to my calf muscles, which made them heal more quickly.
I think it has also helped me avoid serious injury since I've been using it. When in the Physiotherm you sit with your back up against a long infrared heater and that has had a knock-on effect because your nervous system, which is centred in your spine has a big influence on muscle tension and injury.
So I believe my lack of serious injury may be a reflection of how well the Physiotherm cabin has worked.”

Top Welsh Rugby Player Strong Advocate of Physiotherm
|
Well-known Welsh international rugby player, Gavin Henson, believes the Physiotherm is a vital part of his training and fitness regime.
“I use the Physiotherm Infared Therapy Cabin as part of my training regime, for 40 minutes at a time. After a game of rugby it helps to alleviate my muscular aches and pains. In addition, it helps me sweat out the toxins that build up in the body and makes me feel very relaxed both mentally and physically.
I tend to go into the Cabin at least twice a week, but if I have had a tough training session I use it straight afterwards. It is truly a vital part of my training and fitness regime and definitely helps me keep ahead of the game and the other players on pitch.”
